After having trouble with our furnace last winter, at -40F of course, we decided
it might be time for an upgrade. After a couple weeks of research we finally bought
a Freedom® 95 Comfort-R™ Variable Speed Furnace
built by American Standard.
It's 96.7% fuel efficient and both the purchase price and installation costs
are ellible for a tax credit this year.
The old furnace was 92% fuel efficient and put out 67,000btu.
The new furnace has two stage heating so it can run at 65% capacity most of the time.
Stage 1 puts out 74,500btu and, if that doesn't heat the house up fast enough, Stage
2 puts out 114,700btu.
