Yes, it ruined the pan.

The idea is to bake the onions a 1/2 hour so so at 350, then pour a cup or two of chicken stock with a bit of soy over the onions so the onions have something to steam in. Cook another 1/2 hour or so...

It needs to cook for an hour at very least, so the liquid will not last. Even adding water while it's cooking doesn't stop things from burning onto the pan.

Be sure you don't add the cheese until the onions are done cooking!!
